What is Consignment?
Consignment means that we sell gently used children’s clothes, toys, books, baby equipment and other kid-related items for families that do not want the hassle of doing so themselves. We will set up a temporary "shop" in the Eugene, Oregon area for a few days in the spring and fall of each year. While consignment sales are big business in many areas of the country, itty bitty boutique is excited to be among the first to bring consignment to the Eugene area!
The sales are seasonal and bi-annual, as we will hold one early each spring to sell spring and summer clothes, and one in the fall to sell fall and winter clothes. The consignors set their own prices at approximately 1/4 to 1/2 of the amount they originally spent on them. The itty bitty boutique will provide the location, the advertising and the work involved in organizing and executing the sale, in exchange for a small percentage of the sales - consignors keep 70% of the selling price of each item, while we earn a modest 30% commission.
Consignment sales cater to the family on a budget, by providing both an opportunity to earn money for items no longer in use, as well as a chance to purchase needed items at a fraction of their original retail prices. Many families use consignment sales as a kind of "swap shop." They bring their outgrown items to sell and then buy what they need for the next season at great prices.
