About Consignment

What is Consignment?

Consignment means that we sell gently used children’s clothes, toys, books, baby equipment and other kid-related items for families that do not want the hassle of doing so themselves.  We set up a temporary "shop"  in the Eugene, Oregon area for a few days in the spring and fall of each year.  While consignment sales are big business in many areas of the country, itty bitty boutique is excited to be among the first to bring consignment to the Eugene area!

Our sales are seasonal and bi-annual, as we will hold one early each spring to sell spring and summer clothes, and one in the fall to sell fall and winter clothes.  Each sale also has a variety of items that are not specific to a season.  The consignors set their own prices, typically at approximately 1/4 to 1/2 of the amount they originally spent on them.  We will provide the location, the advertising and the work involved in organizing and executing the sale, in exchange for a small percentage of the sales - consignors keep 70% of the selling price of each item, while we earn a modest 30% commission.

itty bitty boutique's sales cater to the family on a budget, by providing both an opportunity to earn money for items no longer in use, as well as a chance to purchase needed items at a fraction of their original retail prices.  Many families use consignment sales as a kind of "swap shop."  They bring their outgrown items to sell and then buy what they need for the next season at great prices.  Read on to find out how participating in our sale can benefit your family!

Benefits for Consignors:

  • Consignors make more money through consignment sales than they would by selling their kid-related items in a garage sale or through a traditional consignment shop
  • Consignors' items are displayed for sale over the course of four sale days, rather than just few hours on one specified day, as in the case of garage sales
  • Preparing for consignment sales involve less work than individually listing each item on eBay or Craigslist
  • Consignors set their own prices and do not have to deal with "hagglers" asking them to take less
  • Consignors are invited to private pre-sales, giving them the opportunity to shop before the general public for access to the best selection and first dibs on the great deals

    Benefits for Shoppers:

    • Shoppers are assured to find a wide variety of kid-related items - no more running from garage sale to garage sale, hoping to find what you need
    • Shoppers find better prices at seasonal consignment sales than they do in traditional consignment shops
    • The quality and condition of items is higher than what is found at garage sales, as they are inspected for stains and tears when consignors drop them off
    • Items are displayed in an organized manner, sorted by category, size and gender, with prices clearly marked
